Heaven - 9th Hour
Can You Wait For Heaven?
My verse for the day came to my email, "Christ has indeed been raised, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive." -- 1 Corinthians 15:20-22
I have been listening to 9th Hours' new CD. It was timely to be listening to it. I lost a good friend from a senseless killing recently and it really shook me up. He would just call me sometimes and ask "So whatta ya doing?" We would just poke fun at each other all the time. Losing a friend whom you often chat with or cut up with leaves a hole in your life, your routine, or your security of knowing someone whom you counted on is now gone. I cannot imagine the pain the family is feeling. One blessing through all of this is they do know the Lord and my friend was a great man of faith and always excelled to be better for the King.
I received another call yesterday where another young man I once worked with had died. He went to lay down for a while and never woke up.
I don't know if its just me, or perhaps my age, but I find myself thinking about Heaven more. I have a Dad there, a sister and brother, and a nephew and many friends there. I do find myself thinking of Heaven as my home more now than when I was younger. Perhaps you do too. Perhaps you recently lost a friend or someone even closer. We have a promise of Heaven. That place where Jesus is; the place He has prepared for those who have received God's Grace of forgiveness. The apostle Paul wrote "To live is Christ, to die is gain". Paul was all for living to the max in Christ, but when it came time for him to go, he knew it would just get better.
The words and music of "Heaven" on 9th Hour's CD "Covered" was written by Dan Allen. We are indeed covered by God's great mercy and grace as some of the lyrics go:
"When we see His hand of mercy
His forgiveness and His grace
Our hearts are lifted to the top
Straight to a place"
"In heaven, In heaven above, In heaven
It’s where my Savior lives
Where I’ll be someday
The only place I want to stay is heaven,
In heaven"
Where I’ll be someday
The only place I want to stay is heaven,
In heaven"
Our promise to hold firmly to is that in "Christ all will be made alive". One day my time will come, and yours. Christ will call me home and we will then experience the reality that Christ indeed did "make alive" my Dad, my brother, my nephew and my friends. Thank you Dan, and 9th Hour for a precious song about Heaven. As always, Dee Dee's vocals were a blessing.
God bless,
Ron Richards
